Former Chairman of the RA Urban Development Committee Vahagn Vermishyan has been charged in the first episode for abuse of official powers, regarding which the defense has also filed a cassation appeal.

Alexander Kochubayev, his defense attorney, told Iravaban.net that although according to case materials in the first episode, it is stated that Vermishyan had no right to hire Natalia Chernikova, and the latter did not perform any work stemming from her position at the Urban Development Committee while receiving corresponding compensation, however during the case investigation there were at least several testimonies confirming that Natalia Chernikova was involved in important mega-projects of the committee.

According to Alexander Kochubayev’s assertion, “Chernikova was also charged with labor abuse, the NSS investigator lifted her preventive measure, and through the Russian Embassy, Chernikova was taken out of the country – thus not allowing to interrogate her and find out what work she had performed.”

Vahagn Vermishyan’s defender notes that the NSS also examined Chernikova’s computer, but did not provide this protocol to the defense.

According to the defender, the Court of Appeal did not satisfy his motion, depriving him of the right to hear Natalia Chernikova through testimony.
