Peskov about the Joint Military Exercises between Armenia and the USA

The holding of exercises between Armenia and the United States does not contribute to stabilizing the situation in the region and strengthening mutual trust, the Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said. RIA Novosti reports.

“In this situation, of course, holding such exercises does not contribute to stabilizing the situation. This is the first thing. In any case, it does not contribute to strengthening, let’s say, an atmosphere of mutual trust in the region. Russia continues to fulfill its functions as a guarantor of security, Russia continues … scrupulous and consistent constructive work as with Yerevan and with Baku,” Peskov said in response to a question about the Kremlin’s concerns regarding Armenia’s statements about Azerbaijan’s deployment of troops on the border with the state against the backdrop of upcoming military exercises between the Armenian and American military.

Earlier, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported that Armenian-American military exercises will be held in September in Armenia, their goal is to increase interoperability within the framework of peacekeeping missions. Units preparing for international peacekeeping operations regularly participate in such joint military exercises and training in partner countries.
