RF Ministry of Defense on closing the Hakari Bridge on the Artsakh-Armenia Border

On 23 April, 2023, as a result of unilateral and uncoordinated actions, the Azerbaijani side blocked traffic through the Lachin Corridor in the area of Russian peacekeeping troops’ observation post No. 1 (bridge over the Hakari River). The command of the peacekeeping contingent is negotiating with the Azerbaijani side. The statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation informs.

“At thirty observation posts, Russian peacekeepers monitor the situation around the clock and monitor the maintenance of the ceasefire regime.

A violation of the ceasefire regime was registered in Mardakert region. There were no casualties or injuries. The command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is investigating this fact.

Patrols were carried out on three routes in Martakert, Martunu regions and the Lachin corridor,” the message states.

Let us remind that the Azerbaijani side, once again grossly violating the 2020 the provisions of the trikateral agreement and continuously providing misinformation regarding the transfer of weapons from Armenia to Artsakh, closed the Hakari Bridge on the Artsakh-Armenia border, which is located in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping troops, in the “Lachin Corridor”.

The authorities of Artsakh strongly condemn another provocation by Azerbaijan, considering it a criminal step aimed at deepening the blockade of Artsakh and ethnic cleansing, which violates both the trilateral declaration, the binding decision of the UN International Court of Justice and other fundamental norms of international law.
