German politicians call on Azerbaijan to stop blocking the Lachin Corridor

German politicians call on Azerbaijan to stop blocking the Lachin corridor to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, where 120,000 people have been cut off from all supplies for days.

The spokesman for the foreign policy of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group of the Bundestag, Jurgen Hardt, called on the government of Azerbaijan to stop the blockade of the Lachin corridor between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Although Azerbaijan insists that it is looking for a diplomatic solution, the conflict does not subside,” Hardt said to RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND) and noted. “Obviously, the blockaders are supported by Baku. The government of Baku should immediately end the blockade.”

Jurgen Trittin, the spokesman for the foreign policy of the Green faction of the Bundestag, also demanded that Azerbaijan immediately stop the blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh, otherwise a humanitarian disaster threatens.

“Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also needs clear signals from Europe that he should free the Lachin Corridor; “Azerbaijan’s new role as an important supplier of energy for Europe should not lead to a soft reaction from Brussels,” Trittin said.
