Turkey will not be accountable to anyone for its actions in northern Syria and Iraq: Erdoğan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan  has stated that the military operations of the Turkish armed forces in northern Syria and Iraq “shouldn’t bother anyone”. According to him, Ankara will not be accountable to anyone.

Since 20 November, Turkey has been carrying out air operations against the Syrian wing of the forbidden Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Northern Syria. The city of Kobani was reportedly hit, as well as in northern Iraq. Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan  called the operation successful and did not rule out that it will be followed by a ground operation.

“Turkey is as determined as ever to create a 30 km deep security zone near its southern borders. We do not need to get permission from anyone to take steps related to the security of our homeland and our people, we will not be accountable to anyone,” Erdoğan was quoted by Anadolu Agency.
