The fire was isolated at 2:38 p.m. on 16 August and extinguished at 5:49 p.m. According to preliminary data, the area of firefighting and rescue operations is about 1 ha. The three-story building (about 2889 square meters) collapsed.
As a result of search and rescue works, the bodies of 16 citizens were found.

62 citizens applied to medical centers of Yerevan city, 5 of them continue to receive treatment, and the rest received appropriate medical care and were discharged.
As a result of the calls received to the 911 hotline of the MES, the following citizens can be considered missing in the territory of the “Surmalu” Shopping Center:

- Vanik Amirkhanyan.

Let’s remind that on 14 August, at 1:23 p.m., the National Crisis Management Center received an alert that an explosion and fire occurred in the “Surmalu” Shopping Center located at 15 Arshakunyats Street in Yerevan, as a result of which the three-story building partially collapsed.
The bodies of 16 people, including a pregnant woman and a young child, were taken out of the rubble in the area of the explosion.
62 citizens applied to medical centers of Yerevan city, 7 of them continue to receive treatment, and the rest received appropriate medical care and were discharged.
Mourning has been announced in Armenia and Artsakh on 17 and 18 August.
