Aliq.ge reports that according to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the resolution on Georgia initiated by five groups with the support of the European Parliament is “anti-Georgian” and “anti-state”.

According to the Prime Minister, if the opposition “United National Movement” is concerned about the future of the country, then they should call on the European People’s Party not to support the resolution.

“If these people are indignant about the future of our country, why did they not call on their party not to adopt such an anti-state and anti-Georgian resolution in the European Parliament,” Garibashvili said.

According to him, when the UNM failed to involve Georgia in the war, demanding to join the sanctions and send volunteers to the war, it began to harm the country’s interests.

It should be noted that the text of the resolution adopted by the European Parliament calls on EU institutions to work to grant Georgia the status of EU candidate country, in accordance with Article 49 of the EU Treaty, on the condition that the Georgian government will meet all requirements.

The European Parliament calls on the Georgian authorities to release third President Mikheil Saakashvili from prison on humanitarian grounds, just as he calls on the Council of Europe and its democratic partners to consider imposing personal sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili.
