Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia can use nuclear weapons only in case of a real threat to the country. He announced this in an interview with CNN, news.ru reports.

According to a Kremlin spokesman, this provided the concept of Russian national security.

We have a concept of national security, it is in the public domain, you can read all the reasons why nuclear weapons can be used. That is, if there is a threat to the existence of the country, then it can be used in accordance with our concept. There are no other reasons mentioned in this text,” Peskov emphasized.

On the eve, The Wall Street Journal, citing high-ranking US officials, writes that Russian President Vladimir Putin is changing the tactics of conducting a special operation in Ukraine. Officials questioned the imminent end of the conflict in Ukraine. In their opinion, if it drags on, Russia may threaten to use nuclear weapons.

Earlier, the former American leader, Republican Donald Trump, during a speech to supporters in Florida, said that US President Joe Biden avoids attacking Russia in the situation around Ukraine because he fears the nuclear weapons that Russia has. He also traditionally stated that if he had been in the place of Democrat Biden, there would not have been a Ukrainian crisis.
