Ukraine has officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation at the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague. This was announced by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Twitter , Ukrinform reports.

“Ukraine has officially filed a lawsuit against Russia in the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague. We demand that Russia be held accountable for distorting the concept of genocide to justify aggression.

We ask the court to immediately order Russia to cease hostilities and schedule a hearing next week,” Zelensky said.

It should be reminded that in the early morning of 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a message announcing the decision to launch a special military operation in Donbas.

“Circumstances require us to take decisive and immediate action. The Donbas People’s Republics have appealed to Russia. I have decided to launch a special military operation in this regard,” Putin said in a televised address to Russian citizens.
