Update. Canada will impose tough sanctions on President Putin, his chief of staff and the foreign minister, the people most responsible for the deaths and devastation in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau announced.
“We will also impose sanctions on Belarus and its leaders for facilitating President Putin’s invasion. These sanctions will apply to 57 people, in addition to the dozens of sanctions already in place against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.
In addition, Canada supports the removal of Russia from the SWIFT payment system.
“This is in line with our commitment to impose heavy costs on Russia, which will make it even more difficult for President Putin to finance his atrocities.”
