Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared martial law throughout the country.
He announced this in a post on his Telegram channel .
Zelensky said that Ukraine’s security and defense systems are working. “Do not panic, we are strong, we will win,” Zelensky told the citizens.
He said that he had already talked to the US President Joe Biden and that the US side was already preparing international aid for Ukraine.
As we have already informed, today, in the early morning on 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a statement announcing the decision to launch a special military operation in Donbas.
“Circumstances require us to take decisive and immediate action. The Donbas People’s Republics have appealed to Russia. I have decided to launch a special military operation in this regard,” Putin said in a televised address to Russian citizens.
He added that Russia’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukraine, but Russia will strive for demilitarization of Ukraine.
According to Putin, Russia’s clash with nationalist forces in Ukraine is inevitable – it is only a matter of time. They are going to wait for the right time. Now they claim to have nuclear weapons. We will not allow them to do that,” he said.
