The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia responded to the Azeri deputies who visited the Blue Mosque in Yerevan and called the Iranian architectural monument an “Azerbaijani monument.”
The Embassy posted a photo of the mosque’s historical inscriptions in Persian on its Twitter page in Armenian, Persian and English. “The Blue Mosque, a symbol of Iranian art, has been active again in the last 3 decades as the praying and congregation place of Muslims residing in Armenia and a tourist attraction. A great pleasure that its centuries-old Persian epigraphy has been preserved! Who can read them?” the Embassy said in a statement.
In all the posts, the Embassy specifically mentioned the pages of the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan, as well as the pages of UNESCO on the protection of world cultural heritage.
