Тhere are missing citizens: Almaty Police reports

Police in Almaty are searching for seven people who went missing during the unrest in the city, according to the local police department.  RIA Novosti reported.

“Since 4 January, 22 people have been officially declared missing, 15 of whom have been found. The whereabouts of the other 7 people are being determined.

It should be reminded that the protest actions in Kazakhstan started in the first days of 2022, in the town of Janaoze and Aktau Mangistau region (south-west of the country), where residents rallied against high fuel prices. Two days later, riots broke out in Almaty (east), the republic’s former capital and the largest city.

In response, the authorities declared a state of emergency throughout the country until 19 January and launched an anti-terrorist operation.
