Sergey Lavrov about the elections in Armenia and its impact on the region

Parliamentary elections have just taken place in Armenia; it is too early to talk about their impact on the Artsakh issue. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this today, 21 June, at a press conference after talks with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.

TASS reported.

“The election has just taken place. It is not yet clear how these results will affect the formation of a new political life. Let’s wait until the government is formed,” he said, answering the question how the election results in Armenia will affect the stability of the region.

Helga Schmidt defended Lavrov’s position. “The election has just taken place. We are waiting for the publication of the complete report of the observers. So, let’s wait until the government is formed, after which we will give assessments.”
