Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan writes on his Facebook page:

“As a result of the explosion this morning, a collapse took place in a 4-storey building located at 1 Rainis Street, Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan.

According to the initial version, the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak. 12 apartments located in the same entrance partially collapsed.

19 residents left the collapsed part of the building on their own or with the help of rescuers. According to preliminary data, 3 citizens were left under the wreckage. The rescuers took the two out. One was taken out minutes ago. Both are in consciousness.

In the morning I visited the scene and got acquainted with the situation on the spot. The rescue operations are going on.”
