Robert Nazaryan and Two Former Members of the PSRC have been charged: Former Deputy Chairman of the Commission has been arrested

Robert Nazaryan, former chairman of the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission, has been arrested within the framework of the criminal case under investigation within the RA Special Investigation Service, as well as former members of the commission Shiraz Kirakosyan and Mushegh Koshetsyan, were arrested on the same day, and charged for the publicly dangerous acts provided with Article 308, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code, which the latter, out of personal interest in establishing privileges for a particular economic entity, in the interests of the group, abused their official powers during 2011, which inadvertently caused severe consequences.

Nikolay Grigoryan, the former deputy chairman of the commission, was also arrested yesterday on suspicion of committing an act envisaged by the same article of the RA Criminal Code.

The RA Special Investigation Service investigator submitted a motion to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan to choose the detention as a measure of restrain against R. Nazaryan, Sh. Kirakosyan and M. Koshetsyan.

As it has already been informed, during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, sufficient evidence was obtained that due to the actions of Robert Nazaryan and the above-mentioned members of the commission, instead of the tariffs to be set for 2012-2019 Tariffs were more than doubled, as a result of which “Dzoraget Hydro” LLC received an additional amount of AMD 7,052,065,099 from individuals and legal entities consuming electricity in Armenia.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
