Dozens of Armenian media outlets have been under DDoS attack since last night. We discussed the peculiarities of the attack with Artur Papyan and Ruben Muradyan and came to the conclusion that there is a high probability that:

The DDoS attack is carried out by the Azerbaijani special services or a similar body, which involved several thousand Azerbaijani citizens in the attack by distributing their special software, which is installed on the computer and provides the attack.

Why did we come to such a conclusion?

1. There are thousands of devices with Azerbaijani IP addresses in the attacking computer
2. Azerbaijani hacker groups do not report the attack
3. The number of participating devices may mean either that Azerbaijani hackers or special services have infected a large number of Azerbaijani citizens’ computers or that citizens are deliberately participating in the attack.
4. Consciously participating in an attack means providing people with a special program, explaining how to install and operate it. With these volumes, this would be possible only through a large flash mob – in many countries we have witnessed such cases. However, no such thing has been observed in Azerbaijan
5. From which we conclude that the program is divided internally, at the state level; It is possible to civil servants or members of the ruling party of Azerbaijan. For example, it can be open source LOIC, HOIC programs.”
