Vahagn Harutyunyan, former head of the investigation team on the March 1 case, was arrested in Moscow in the evening on March 14. TASS reports.

The arrest took place in the center of the capital on Saturday, but it was reported only on Sunday. “At the request of Armenia, Vahagn Harutyunyan was arrested in the center of Moscow. Soon the issue of his extradition to his homeland will be resolved,” the source said.

At the moment Harutyunyan has been transferred to the Tver Regional Prosecutor’s Office for extradition to Armenia.

Iravaban.net learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office that the detention has been informed to the RA Police and extradition will be initiated in accordance with the established procedure.

Notably, besides the accusation of falsifying evidence, V. Harutyunyan was also charged with Article 308 (2) (abuse of official authority, which negligently caused grave consequences) and Article 309 (2) (exceeding official authorities committed with violence).
