President Armen Sarkissian sent letters of condolences to the President of Ukraine Volodimir Zelensky and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani to a tragic accident with an aircraft of the Ukrainian International Airlines company in Iran.
President Sarkissian expressed his condolences and support to the families and friends of the victims.
Earlier on 8 January, a Ukrainian plane crashed shortly after the flight near Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport. It had 176 people, all of whom were killed. There are no RA citizens in the list of victims. The Iranian authorities called the cause of the crash a flared engine fire and an unsuccessful attempt by the crew to restore control of the aircraft.
