The 2nd annual Steering Committee Meeting of the Targeted Initiative for Armenia project took place on 31 October 2014. Representatives of 6 European Union Member States, the European Union Delegation to Armenia, as well as Armenian state authorities were present at the meeting. Mr Imbert, General Director of the French Office for Immigration and Integration, Mr Gagik Yeganyan, Head of the State Migration Service and Mr Jose Maria Medina Navarro, Deputy Head of Cooperation Section at the EU Delegation to Armenia delivered welcome speeches at the opening of the meeting. The purpose of the 2nd annual Steering Committee Meeting was to present the developments of the project in its second year of implementation and discuss the overall strategy for 2015. As Mr Imbert stated, this meeting was a good opportunity to consider the project achievements and to reflect on possibilities of future cooperation and concrete activities. Mr Yeganyan elaborated on the main results of the project achieved so far, including the establishment of the Referral Centre for Reintegration, the development of “Tundardz” website providing information on reintegration issues, and the development of a website on remittances transfer to Armenia.
In addition, during the meeting 3 partners of the project briefly introduced the invitees to their cooperation practices with the project, more particularly the representative of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Development National Centre presented the business start-up assistance scheme, representatives from ALTERA and “Sahman” NGO talked about “Migration Compass” public information campaign and a micro-project on construction of small-scale greenhouses respectively.
Also, earlier during the meeting day European Union Member States’ experts had the possibility to visit the Referral Centre for Reintegration and get acquainted with the services offered by the Centre.
