The situation at the court hearing on freedom fighter Volodya Avetisyan’s Case in the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts is tensed.
Today the accusation defense was authorized to prosecutor Karen Harutyunyan, as Vardan Papikyan was attending the training course.
The judge was unable to begin the court session. The participants were complaining that the voice is too low and they could not hear. They demanded to provide a loudspeaker. The judge, made reprimands to some of them and demanded to apologize for interrupting the session. Then, seeing that the demand was neglected ordered the bailiffs to draw them out of the courtroom. One of the freedom fighter’s friends Sasun Margaryan answered, “Apologies to the Armenian people.”
The judge was not satisfied with the answer and demanded to apologize to the court as well. “I apologized to the Armenia people. Aren’t you an Armenian?” replied Sasun Margaryan.
Only after that the judge managed to establish order in the courtroom.
The presiding judge Levon Avetisyan introduced the new prosecutor and then referred to the motion, which Volodya Avetisyan’s defender Ara Zakaryan had introduced during the previous court hearing. The latter required changing the measure of restraint arrest and to impose bail.
The prosecutor objected the motion and mentioned that such motions were filed and denied in the previous sittings as ungrounded and aimed to prevent the court sessions.
The judge went to the retiring room to make a decision. He returned after half an hour and rejected the motion.
Tensed situation exists not only in the courtroom but out of it as well. A group of citizens gathered in front of the door and want to participate in the court hearing, but the bailiffs did not allow them to enter. This caused the dissatisfaction of the people in the street.
