Today, after the incident between the police and the political activists in Abovyan Grove, 6 citizens were brought to the Police Department.
Criminal case under Part 1 of Article 316 of the RA Criminal Code was initiated against one of the activists Gevorg Safaryan. Iravaban.net was informed about this from the Infromation Department of the Police. Signature on not leaving was set as a measure of restraint.
Under this article, “Violence or threat of violence, not dangerous for life or health, against a representative of authorities or close relatives, concerned with performance of his official duties, as well as hindrance to the representative of authorities in the execution of duties under law, is punished with a fine in the amount of 300 to 500 minimal salaries, or detention up to one month, or with imprisonment for the term of up to 5 years.”
Today a group of political activists gathered in Mashtots Grove protesting against the change of the name of the Grove. The grove was renamed in favor of the hero of French Opposition Movement, poet and National Hero of France Misak Manushyan. The Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and François Hollandeparticipated in the opening ceremony of the grove as well.
