Ms Manushak Avagyan, who was forcibly displaced from the occupied Republic of Artsakh, told in the framework of “Artsakh: Armenian Genocide 2023. Stories of Survivors” documentary project, about the deportation from Stepanakert.
She was forced to leave her home as a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan on 27 September, 2020 as well, but she returned after the tripartite agreement of 9 November. “We had no intention to leaving again.”
According to her, they had lived in fear so much that it had already become normal for them.
“We were not afraid either, we lived by God’s will, and we lived. It is true that we were in an uncertain situation, we always thought that one day there would be a war again, but we did not think that it would happen so soon. But one thing, we thought it would be good. We have always been optimistic,” he said.
“Terrible, indescribable”, our interlocutor characterizes the nine months surrounding the illegal blockade of Artsakh with these adjectives.
“I cannot describe it, a person has to feel it to understand it. My sons were soldiers. I always asked them whether they have food or not, they said they had and everything is normal. Well, my husband and I are both adults, amnd we would eat if we had food and did not eat when there was not. And fruit was a dream,” she said.
