Anna Harutyunyan, who was forcibly displaced from the occupied Republic of Artsakh, told in the framework of “Artsakh: Armenian Genocide 2023. Stories of Survivors” documentary project of Iravaban.net, that was displaced from the Martuni region..
She presented how they spent the nine months of the siege.
“There were problems with sugar, oil, bread. It was very difficult,” she said.
Our interlocutor says that they were forced to relocate during the 44-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan in 2020. They returned to Artsakh on 17 February, 2021. She says that they were not afraid.
“The children came back from school and asked, “Mom, number one alarm is announced, is Papa at home?” We were going to begin lunch and the fight started. They hit the village a lot. There were no victims in our village,” our interlocutor tells about 19 September.
They left the village on 25 September and reached Stepanakert on 26 September.
“We reached Kornidzor on 27 September. 12 of us went out. There was fear when crossing Hakari Bridge. They lowered the windows of the car, looked, and us and told to pass quickly,” Anna says.
According to her, they left their house and property in Artsakh. They managed to take some clothes with them.
Referring to the conditions of “reintegration” proposed by Azerbaijan, our interlocutor mentioned that they will not return.
“We will return, when the Turks are not there, when there are Armenians, yes, we will return,” she said.
Anna mentioned that now they need household devices.
