Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeihun Bayramov left for Iran to participate in the “3+3” format meeting, which will be held today. Notably, on 23 October, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan will participate in the meeting of the regional consultation platform (“3+3”) in Tehran at the invitation of the Iranian side.
Earlier, the IRNA agency reported that the Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey may meet in Tehran on 23 October within the framework of the “3+3” format to discuss the problems of the South Caucasus region and try to expand regional cooperation (political, economic, security, transit, energy, etc. issues).
Moscow also confirmed the planned talks of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Tehran on 23 October.
The most important objective of the formation of the “3+3” format is to solve the problems of the region with the participation of the countries of the region and without the intervention of extra-regional and Western countries. The first meeting of “3+3” at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers was held last year in Moscow, without the presence of Georgia.
