Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed hope that despite the dramatic events, Armenia will be able to hold a sports event, the CIS Games in Gyumri next year.
“It will happen next year, it is planned to hold the games in Gyumri, Armenia. I hope that despite all the dramatic events that are happening in the region now… Armenia will be able to hold these events,” Putin said at the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of States.
He explained that the Commonwealth regularly chooses a sports capital every year and holds the games of the CIS countries. Kazan hosted the first such games in 2021, and this year they were held in Minsk.
