Russia will not be able to help Vardanyan after renouncing his citizenship, the Federation Council said

The consequences of Ruben Vardanyan’s renunciation of Russian citizenship by former Minister of State of the Republic of Artsakh are the result of his personal choice. Alexander Bashkin, a member of the Constitutional Committee of the RF Federal Council, said, noting that Vardanyan will not be able to receive help from Russia. RIA Novosti  reports .

It is noted that at the end of last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin granted Vardanyan’s application to renounce his Russian citizenship.

“Renunciation of citizenship was a voluntary choice, therefore all the legal consequences of this step are a consequence of his choice. I think that voluntary renunciation of citizenship will have legal consequences, because now he cannot and will not receive help from the Russian Federation,” Bashkin said.

He noted that this situation can be a good example for those who “question or may question the fact that Russian citizenship is priceless”.

“Someone is given such luck from birth, a gift from fate. Once again it speaks of how one must appreciate what is given by fate, by birth and by parents,” the deputy explained.
