On 22 September, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Azerbaijan, Sergey Lavrov and Jeihun Bayramov, took place.
The Azerbaijani delegation once again apologized to Russia for the tragic death of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh on 20 September, assuring the Russian side that a thorough investigation is being conducted, which is already yielding results, and all the guilty will receive the punishment they deserve.
The parties discussed the situation in the region, emphasizing the humanitarian component. A number of topical issues were also discussed.
