Russia expects proactive steps from the Armenian side regarding the deployment of a CSTO mission in Armenia, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said. TASS news agency informs.

“We expect proactive steps from our Armenian partners to resume substantive work on the deployment of the CSTO Mission in Armenia, and to implement other joint measures to help our ally. The Russian side is ready for such work, which Yerevan is well aware of,” the diplomat said.

According to her, Russia considers public criticism of the CSTO by Armenian officials counterproductive. She noted that the fact that the Armenian leadership discusses issues related to the effectiveness of the CSTO outside the CSTO is bewildering.

“To do this, the CSTO has all the necessary formats, proven methods of interaction, and most importantly, the members of this organization are ready not only to listen and discuss all this, but also to work in this direction,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
