Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are fully developing. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, noting that the two countries are beginning the year from a good starting point.
He also referred to the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasized the special role of Russia in this matter.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that Russia welcomes any efforts aimed at the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in the region.
“Many of our international partners, including those far away from this region, are seriously interested in making progress in the settlement of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We, as President Putin has repeatedly stated, welcome any effort that is in the interest of stabilizing the situation and is aimed at providing the opportunity and conditions for beneficial cooperation for all countries located here, based on mutual respect, for their countries and nations,” he said.
