The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova said that the Russian side is concerned about the fact that there is no progress in the opening of the Goris-Stepanakert road. RIA Novosti writes.
“We are concerned about the lack of progress in restoring the movement of citizens, vehicles and goods in both directions, the full operation of the Lachin Corridor, according to the statement of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020,” Zakharova said.
Zakharova noted that the Russian side, “in particular, the leadership of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RMC), continues to take consistent steps to resolve this situation.”
“We emphasize that it is Russian peacekeepers who make a key contribution to ensuring security in the area of their deployment, which was noted by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia at the summit on October 31 this year in Sochi. We consider any public attacks and provocations against our peacekeepers as unacceptable and deliberate actions causing tangible harm to the process of Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization,” she said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called on Baku and Yerevan to strictly comply with all the provisions of the statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020.
“We stand for the comprehensive implementation of the entire complex of trilatteral agreements at the highest level aimed at unblocking transport and economic ties in the region, delimiting the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, preparing a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan and establishing contacts between public figures, experts and parliamentarians of the two countries,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.
Let us remind that on 12 December at around 10:30, the Azerbaijani side, violating the provisions of the trilateral statement of 9, 2020 November, closed the only way of life connecting Artsakh to the world for environmental reasons, violating the vital interests and rights of the civilian population. They set up tents and brought stoves. The road has been closed for 17 days.
