Peskov rejected negotiations on Kyiv’s terms

On 26 December, the Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov answered the question whether the Russian Federation is ready to negotiate with Ukraine on their conditions,  iz.ru reports.

“We have never followed someone else’s conditions. They focused only on our conditions. And on common sense,” he noted.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that Russia does not reject a political solution to the Ukrainian conflict, but not under the conditions that Kiev is proposing now.

In addition, on 22 December, Russian President Vladimir Putin assessed the possibility of ending the conflict in Ukraine through negotiations. The head of Russia emphasized that all armed conflicts end with negotiations one way or another.

On 16 December, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that some countries offer him to sit at the negotiating table with Russia, but these negotiations do not make sense. He noted that he does not know what to discuss with Putin.
