Russian Peacekeepers are fulfilling their mission to control the Lachin Corridor, the Official Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated at the briefing. “Russian peacekeepers are fulfilling their mission.”
Earlier, Pashinyan stated that de facto, the commitment recorded in the Trilateral Statement, that is, to keep the Lachin Corridor under control, is also not fulfilled by the Peacekeeping Troops of the Russian Federation.
“I can say the opposite: Russian Peacekeepers are carrying out their mission. Actions are being taken, work is being done. I want to remind those who don’t know, or who rely on political statements, that before this there were many escalations, there were problems, the parties blamed each other, and it was the Russian peacekeepers that did everything to stabilize the situation, and it worked. Therefore, this kind of attitude towards our Peacekeepers is not acceptable,” Zakharova said.
The Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov also touched on this topic. He stated that Russian peacekeepers do everything possible to ensure order and peace in the areas where they work.
“They act in accordance with the spirit and letter of the documents signed between the parties. Of course, we will continue the discussion of this topic with our Armenian colleagues and allies,” Peskov said.
Nikol Pashinyan also noted: “Of course, this happens as a result of Azerbaijan’s illegal actions, but this does not change the situation, because the main purpose of the presence of the Russian Peacekeeping Troops is to prevent the occurrence of such illegality, and in particular to keep the Lachin Corridor under control.”
