The UN Security Council is discussing the situation in the Lachin Corridor.
The representative of the United States of America said that the obstacles created in the Lachin Corridor are pushing back the issue of the Peace Treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“We call on the government of Azerbaijan and other parties for the security of the corridor to unblock the corridor as soon as possible for humanitarian and commercial use. We welcome the reopening of gas supply to Nagorno Karabakh. The United States calls on all parties to immediately cease actions that undermine the peace process and fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law. The accumulated problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be solved through peaceful negotiations,” he said.
According to the US representative, negotiations are the only way to achieve lasting peace.
“Time has shown that this conflict cannot have a unilateral or military solution. Both sides should reaffirm their commitment to the diplomatic process. The United States remains committed to a ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to this conflict,” he said.
