The German Government has expressed its concern regarding the military operations started by the Turkish Air Force in the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan and Syria.
Ermenihaber.am writes.
Christopher Burger, Spokesperson of the German Foreign Ministry, called on the Turkish authorities to act with utmost caution and not to ignore international law, as well as to emphasize the need to protect civilians, considering the number of victims as a result of the Air Force operation extremely worrying.
Christopher Burger also stated that they take seriously the actions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) or forces close to it, but according to Article 51 of the UN Charter, self-defense does not include the right to retaliate.
President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, made a similar statement and called on Turkey to respect international law.
Earlier, the USA and Russia called on Turkey to exercise restraint in connection with the resumption of military operations in the territory of Syria and Iraqi Kurdistan.
