Moscow called on Ankara to show restraint in Syria

Alexander Lavrentev, the Special Envoy of the Russian President on the issue of Syria, appealed to Turkey before the start of the 19th round of Astana negotiations aimed at settling the Syrian crisis, Ermenihaber reports.

Lavrentev urged the Turkish authorities to show restraint in Syria and refrain from using excessive military force. According to the Kremlin, Turkey should find a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue.

Lavrentev noted that Ankara did not inform them in advance about the operations of the Turkish army’s air force in Iraq and Syria.

“We call on our Turkish partners to show some restraint in order to prevent the escalation of tensions not only in the northern and northeastern parts of Syria, but also in all parts,” the Special Envoy of Russia said.
