Lawyer Erik Aleksanyan has been charged

Iravaban.net tried to verify the information from the General Prosecutor’s Office. In their answer they informed that one of the lawyers was charged, but did not tell who exactly it was.

“On the basis of Article 161, part 1of the RA Constitutional Law, “Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia”, the Prosecutor General of RA filed a motion to the Supreme Judicial Council today regard to the issue of giving consent for instituting criminal prosecution against a judge or depriving him or her of liberty with respect to the exercise of his or her powers.

Due to the need to preserve the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation, the authority of the judiciary and the judge, the content of the petition and the personal data of the judge are not subject to publication.

The accusation against the lawyer is related to the factual data submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council by the above-mentioned motion of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.

“On the basis of the of Article 22, paragraph 3 of the Law on Advocacy, the body implementing the proceedings informed the President of the Chamber of Advocates about the arrest of the lawyer,” Lusine Martirosyan, adviser to the Prosecutor General said.

In reply to Iravaban.net , the spokesperson of the Chamber of Advocates, Silvi Tigranyan, confirmed that Erik Aleksanyan was the arrested lawyer.
