According to the written statement of the US State Department, they are in favor of resolving the tension between Greece and Turkey, members of NATO and US allies, through diplomatic means. Washington called on the parties to refrain from aggressive rhetoric and actions that would further escalate the situation.

It was noted that the head of the Pentagon is constantly in contact with the parties in order to ease the existing tension.

Earlier it became known that the Ministry of Defense of Turkey is going to provide information to NATO regarding the rumors of Greek air defense systems targeting Turkish planes in the airspace of the Aegean Sea.

And the Greek side denied the information spread in the Turkish press about targeting or chasing Turkish planes, considering them groundless. Furthermore, the Greek side regularly issues statements regarding violations of their air border by the Turkish Air Force.

And recently, according to the Turkish side, Greek fighter jets chased Turkish military planes, but Athens denied those accusations.
