At the regular meeting of the 8th Stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders, on 25 August, the students of the school discussed the RA Anti-Corruption Strategy and its Implementation Action Plan for 2019-2022. The discussion as held online.
During the meeting, the listeners talked about the Anti-Corruption Strategy, prevention of corruption, anti-corruption education and awareness, as well as the public participation in the fight against corruption.
Anti-corruption expert Suzanna Soghomonyan presented the RA Anti-Corruption Strategy and its Implementation Action Plan for 2019-2022to the audience: the shortcomings and problems of the anti-corruption strategy, which were revealed during the evaluation and monitoring of the strategy by the civil society organizations.
A discussion was held regarding the three pillars of the fight against corruption: rooting anti-corruption education, informing the public about the consequences of corruption and the need to fight against it, and the actions taken and being taken by the state in forming public demand for de-corrupt public administration and their effectiveness.
The students of the school expressed the opinion that the instilling of anti-corruption values should start from kindergartens and preschools and be carried out through appropriate games, fairy tales, plays and other children’s programs, however, currently the only educational program implemented in the field of raising the legal awareness of the public and forming a legal culture was the introduction of subject “Social Science” in school programs, in which information about the need, consequences, ways and strategies of fighting corruption is missing.
The listeners also presented their own ideas about the prospects of the development of the field of anti-corruption education in Armenia.
