Summer School on European Law Completed

The five days course of Summer School on European Law completed its work. Today, on 12 July, the participants attended the lecture on “European Convention of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms as a Source of European Law,” delivered by Mr. Ruben Melikyan, Deputy Justice Minister of the RA. The Deputy Minister also mentioned that he was really pleased with the fact of the establishment of the Summer School on European Law in Armenia.

 

Dr. Michael Kleine-Cosack, the German lawyer today held a lecture as well. In his speech Dr. Kleine-Cosack mentioned that he was delighted with the lecture of the RA Deputy Minister of Justice and that it would be a pleasure for him to take Mr. Ruben Melikyan to Germany as an attorney. 

Dr. Michael Kleine-Cosack discussed with the lawyers a number of precedents of the European Court of Human Rights, explained the details and nuances concerning the application of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

 

He introduced the factual circumstances of one case of the ECtHR precedents, and at the practical group work the participants tried to ground which of the human rights had been violated.

 

At the end of the course, the participants thanked the organizers of the Summer School on European Law – the Law Foundation of Armenia, the Armenian Young Lawyers Association NGO, and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).
