The National Guard successfully crossed the river on the outskirts of the city of Izyum near Kharkov and captured several Ukrainian nationalist leaders. This is stated in a press release issued by the Ministry, RIA Novosti reports.
“During the battle, they were able to expand the bridgehead, and also captured several leaders of nationalist formations and accomplices of the SBU, seized important documents. Thanks to the competent actions of the special forces of the Russian Guard, they managed to repulse the attacks and hold the bridgehead, complete the most difficult task and at the same time save the lives of soldiers and officers” , — stated in the message.
The members of the Special Forces and SOBR of the Russian Guard, took part in the operation.
It should be reminded that early in the morning of 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine, aimed at ensuring the security of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, as well as removing the “Nazi regime” in Ukraine.
The United States and the European Union have described Russia’s move as a direct aggression by Russia against Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Verkhovna Rada has declared martial law in Ukraine.
