The Russian Ministry of Health has introduced a new vaccine against coronavirus

The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has registered the vaccine against coronavirus “Konvasel”, developed by the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, follows from the register of the ministry. TASS News Agency reported.

Convasel is a recombinant subunit vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Date of decision: 18.03.2022″ – indicated in the register.

According to the information in the registry, the vaccine has a shelf life of six months at a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees in a place protected from light.

The drug is an emulsion for intramuscular injection, the volume of one dose is 0.5 ml.

Earlier, the Head of the FMBA, Veronika Skvortsova, said that the vaccine does not cause allergies and is well tolerated by humans.

In June 2021, preclinical studies of the vaccine were completed, as a result of which its safety, immunogenicity and protective potential were proven.

According to FMBA, the main mechanisms of action of the vaccine are the development of a specific cellular immune response and the phenotype of central memory cells, as well as the development of an intracellular virus-neutralizing response.
