The Russian side has reached an agreement with the Ukrainian military on joint security at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, RIA Novosti reported.

She detailed that the countries will jointly control the security of the power unit and the sarcophagus.

“The control of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was carried out by the Russian military in a way that did not harm its security,” the diplomat said.

Zakharova assured that the Russian side intends to continue all efforts to ensure the security of this facility.

It should be reminded that early in the morning of 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine, aimed at ensuring the security of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, as well as removing the “Nazi regime” in Ukraine.
