White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the United States, along with its allies, “basically crushed” the Russian economy with sanctions in response to the military operation in Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported .
“What will be the end of the game is a question for President (of the Russian Federation Vladimir) Putin. We completely crushed his economy. We provided military and humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainians, giving them the opportunity to resist much longer than the Russian leadership expected. And, again, he must determine what the path ahead looks like for him,” she said at a daily media briefing.
It should be reminded that early in the morning of 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine, aimed at ensuring the security of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, as well as removing the “Nazi regime” in Ukraine.
The United States and the European Union have described Russia’s move as a direct aggression by Russia against Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Verkhovna Rada has declared martial law in Ukraine.
