The radiation background at the Zaporozhye NPP is normal and is monitored by specialists from the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces told journalists, RIA Novosti reports .
“I am currently in the area of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. At the moment, the radiation background at the NPP is normal, ranging from 0.08 to 0.12 microsievert per hour. There is no danger to the working staff of the NPP, and the plant is working normally,” he said.
The representative of the RF Ministry of Defense added that there were no incidents at the station, including radiation.
It should be reminded that early in the morning of 24 February; Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine, aimed at ensuring the security of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, as well as removing the “Nazi regime” in Ukraine.
The United States and the European Union have described Russia’s move as a direct aggression by Russia against Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
