We continue diplomatic contacts to achieve peace in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict: Erdoğan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated his determination to use Turkish powers to limit the passage of warships across the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles. Ermenihaber.am reported.

During the meeting with the journalists after the government session, he particularly said on this topic. “We are determined to exercise our powers under the Montreux Convention on the passage of ships through the Straits in order to prevent the crisis from escalating further.”

The Turkish President also said that they continue diplomatic contacts to achieve peace in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, stressing once again that Ankara considers Russia’s invasion of Ukraine unacceptable.

Erdoğan also said that 5,000 Turkish citizens had already left Ukraine and moved to Turkey and other countries.

“If necessary, we will continue evacuation work,” he added.
