A new wave of unrest in Kazakhstan is unlikely to be possible, Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) said.
“I would not talk about the danger of any revenge or a new outbreak. I am almost sure that it is impossible, because first of all the situation is under control. Secondly, a lot of work is being done to find out the whole picture for all the participants. Accordingly, measures will be taken within the framework of the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Of course, everyone has investigated this situation for himself, not only the Kazakh people, but also the country’s leadership,” he said in an interview with RT, RIA Novosti reported.
Zas stated that there is no need for a serious restructuring of the CSTO. Commenting on the entry of the organization’s peacekeepers to Kazakhstan, he noted that these events have become a lesson.
“After a while, we will analyze this whole process in a calm atmosphere, we will make certain conclusions for ourselves, and if necessary, we will make some corrections. It is another matter that I do not see the need for a serious reconstruction of our activities. Because the system, the mechanisms that we have created in the CSTO, have really worked now, they have not worked badly,” he said.
