One of the main tasks of the Armenian peacekeeping unit in Alma-Ata was to prevent the poisoning of the local water supply system by terrorists. The commander of the Armenian peacekeeping group, Major Hayrapet Mkrtchyan, told reporters about this on Wednesday, TASS reports.
According to the military, the water supply system is an object of strategic importance, there was a theoretical danger of its poisoning .
Armenian peacekeepers in Alma-Ata in addition to protecting the “Druzhba” water pipeline, ensure the security of one of the largest bakeries as well.
It should be reminded that the RA Armed Forces sent a peacekeeping unit (100 servicemen) to the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the CSTO peacekeeping forces.
During the mission, the peacekeeping unit of the RA Armed Forces carries out functions of protection of exclusively strategic buildings and infrastructures.
