“Tehran has good relations with Baku and Yerevan, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh.” said on Monday.
Commenting on the visit of the Armenian Foreign Minister to Iran, he stated.
“Bilateral issues in the spheres of politics, economy and culture will be discussed during the visit of Armenian Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to Iran. We maintain good relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
Speaking about the presence of terrorists in the territory of Azerbaijan near the Iranian border, Khatibzadeh said: “We have received reports since the beginning of the war; we have informed our Azerbaijani counterparts about it. They have assured me that there is no threat to other countries.”
Commenting on recent developments in Iran-Azerbaijan relations, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Tehran had defended its principled position in recent months.
“We told our Azerbaijani friends from the beginning that Iran recognizes the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. Baku should not allow a third country to use its lands and borders. Iran can provide good security, but Azerbaijan must also fulfill its obligations,” he said.
In response to the question on Russia’s role in Tehran’s mediation in the recent events in the Caucasus, Khatibzadeh said that Iran’s relations with Baku and other neighbors do not need a mediator.
