International Children’s Day

June 1st is International Children’s Day.

It was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925 in Switzerland and then established universally in 1954.

There are numerous international instruments on the protection of children’s rights, among them: “Declaration of the Rights of the Child” Adopted by UN General Assembly Resolution 1386 (XIV) of 10 December 1959 and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted in 1989.

The Republic of Armenia has joined the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992, and after that in 1996 Armenia adopted “The Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Child’s Rights.”
